Garmin co-hosts event with NUS Medicine as health research momentum grows in Asia
Strategic agreement focuses on multiyear research initiative about cardiac health

Singapore, Feb. 11, 2026 – Garmin today co-hosted an event with the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore ( NUS Medicine) called “The Value of Consumer Wearables in Research: Project RESET x Garmin Health.” Project RESET is a 5-year research initiative led by NUS Medicine to learn more about the immune, lipid and metabolic drivers of early cardiovascular disease. The event, designed for researchers, professors, postdoctoral researchers and PhD candidates based in Singapore, provided a status update on the project and an in-depth look at how Garmin Health integrations can support research studies.
“As one of the leading medical schools in Asia and the world, the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore is furthering academic research in multiple fields, including health. We are honored to work with Professor Roger Foo and his team to study how cardiac health is impacted through various metrics.”
– Jörn Watzke, Senior Director of Garmin Health Sales
Project RESET is currently in the recruiting phase and requires a minimum of 3,000 participants between the ages of 40 and 70. The study aims to help evaluate heart disease by combining clinical health data from regular checkups – including both cardiovascular disease and metabolic disease biomarkers – with monitoring from Garmin smartwatches1. Due to the prevalence of sudden, unexpected heart attacks among working-age individuals in Singapore and globally, Project RESET will address the pressing issue of cardiovascular disease by leveraging patient data to inform early detection and prevention strategies. According to initial insights from the clinical data of the 1,500 current participants, a large majority showed hyperlipidemia, hypertension, fatty liver and insulin resistance.
“Our collaboration with Garmin Health marks a transformative step in Project RESET’s mission to decode early risk factors for heart disease. By combining Garmin’s wearable technology with our clinical and population research expertise, we will be uncovering actionable insights that bring precision prevention into everyday health.”
– Prof. Roger Foo, NUS Medicine
Recently, Garmin Health expanded its Business Development unit to include Laura Willinger, PhD, a researcher who will focus exclusively on collaborations in Asia. And on February 2, Garmin launched its first research grant specific to Asia in collaboration with Fitrockr. The application period is active until March 31, 2026, and is open to postgraduates, Ph.D. candidates, postdoctoral researchers and senior researchers working in the Chinese mainland, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan, Korea, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, or Philippines.
Finally, the annual Garmin Health Summit is anticipated to return to Asia with a location announcement expected in the second quarter of 2026.
