OLATHE, Kan./May 2, 2012/Business Wire — Garmin Ltd. (NASDAQ: GRMN), the global leader in satellite navigation, today announced that it has sold more than 100 million of its products to motorists, pilots, boaters, runners, cyclists, golfers, hikers, hunters, and geocachers – who all depend on Garmin to help show the way.

“This is a tremendous milestone for Garmin. In just 23 years, we’ve gone from a startup company into one that is a global consumer brand – and one that continues to extend its reach by creating new markets and product categories that focus on location technology,” said Cliff Pemble, Garmin’s president and COO. “It is our associates and customers who have made this achievement possible. Garmin is fortunate to have a global workforce that is passionate, able to dream big and execute successfully on those ideas. Our customers are also passionate about their Garmin devices, and the feedback they provide has been instrumental in delivering new products that make their activities safer, more successful, and more enjoyable.”

Garmin was founded in 1989 by a small group of engineers with a big idea: that GPS technology could be utilized by everyday consumers for both work and play. In 1991, Garmin sold its first GPS-enabled device. Six years later, in 1997, the company sold its millionth unit. A decade after that, in 2007, it had sold 25 million devices. It only took another five years for Garmin to sell its 100 millionth product.

In addition to continually advancing its highly diversified automotive/mobile, fitness, outdoor, marine, and aviation markets, Garmin is growing its presence geographically in emerging markets like China, India, and South America; investing in its global automotive OEM capabilities; and making key strategic acquisitions that enhance the company’s technology portfolio.

The 100 million milestone will be celebrated through a commemorative logo to appear on product packaging, in point-of-purchase materials, in Garmin’s online assets, and available to Garmin dealers. Learn more about Garmin at Garmin.com.sg, and join the conversation at Facebook GarminMalaysia and Facebook GarminSG.

OLATHE, Kan./April 2, 2012/Business Wire — Garmin® International Inc., a unit of Garmin Ltd. (NASDAQ: GRMN), the global leader in satellite navigation, today announced that it will provide a fully integrated, factory-installed infotainment system for most American 2013 model year Suzuki vehicles. Garmin’s infotainment system combines a 6.1-inch high-resolution touchscreen display with a full-featured infotainment platform, including AM/FM/CD radio, multi-media playback, backup camera support, Bluetooth® hands-free connectivity, Pandora® internet radio and Garmin’s award-winning navigation. The intuitive user interface with advanced voice control makes it easy to operate the system and switch between functions. The Garmin infotainment system will be on display at the Suzuki booth (#1507) at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center at the New York International Auto Show during the press days (April 4-5, 2012).

“We’re pleased to extend our cooperation with Suzuki Motor Corporation by providing our fully integrated infotainment platform that goes beyond GPS navigation and provides a whole range of information and entertainment functions,” said Matt Munn, Garmin’s managing director automotive OEM. “By leveraging our long-standing experience in developing navigation software, user interfaces and hardware design, we created an integrated system that is easy to use and makes driving more enjoyable.”

Garmin’s Suzuki system includes the following functionalities:

Media and music integration: Music and media is integrated in multiple ways, providing users a wide range of options to choose from. This includes an integrated AM/FM radio and CD player as well as several interfaces that allow user to play music from external devices such as a mobile phone or iPod, including a USB and AUX jack, Bluetooth and a SD card slot. Also included is an integration with Pandora (via a connected smartphone[1]) that allows users to easily browse and select their personalized radio stations, skip a track or give a song a thumbs-up or down.

Navigation: The system integrates Garmin’s intuitive and award-winning navigation, providing premium road guidance with spoken turn-by-turn directions and street names, PhotoReal Junction View with lane guidance, optional traffic via TMC, speed limit and current speed displays, millions of points of interest, a customizable data menu and many other features. The navigation system has access to vehicle speed sensors to provide precise location information even when a GPS signal is not available, for example in tunnels. When switching to other menus, such as the music player, navigation directions will continue and visual cues will be displayed at the top of the screen. Map updates can easily be downloaded to a SD card from a Garmin Web portal.

Full voice control: Users can control the system with voice commands, which helps reduce driver distraction. This includes all the integrated functions, such as navigation, radio, CD player and Pandora. Garmin’s one-shot address entry technology allows user to speak a full address at once without going through multiple steps. Additionally, the system includes steering wheel control buttons on selected vehicles to activate voice recognition or directly control certain functions, such as the volume, switching between radio stations or accepting and ending calls.

Connected services: Real-time information, such as traffic, dynamic parking, weather and fuel prices, will be available through Garmin Smartphone Link[2]. This app can easily link an Android phone to the Suzuki infotainment system via Bluetooth. It utilizes the existing data connection of a smartphone to bring live services to the vehicle, so users don’t have to pay for an extra data plan.

Backup camera support: When backing up, the system automatically displays the backup camera on the screen, so drivers get a better view of what’s behind the vehicle.

Hands-free Bluetooth: The integrated Bluetooth calling function allows users to make calls hands free. A phone can easily be synced via Bluetooth and then controlled with voice commands.

The hardware of the Suzuki infotainment system is designed and built by Garmin and includes a 6.1-inch touchscreen display, Bluetooth, an AM/FM tuner, a CD player, a USB and an AUX jack, a SD card slot and internal flash memory. Garmin’s infotainment system will be available for selected Suzuki vehicles in Australia and New Zealand, Europe, North America and Russia.

Garmin’s automotive OEM business segment provides a broad range of in-vehicle electronics for the automotive industry, including automotive grade infotainment and telematics systems, navigation software, location-based services, and integrated portable navigation systems. Garmin has agreements with leading brands in the automotive sector such as BMW, Chrysler, Honda, Kenwood, Panasonic, Suzuki and Toyota, among others.

Singapore/ February 10, 2012 - Garmin Corporation, a unit of Garmin Ltd., the global leader in satellite navigation, today announced the Forerunner 910XT – the only all-in-one GPS-enabled device that provides detailed swim metrics and tracks distance, speed/pace, elevation and heart rate for running and cycling. The 910XT sports a sleek profile allowing users to easily slide wetsuits on and off, and has an on-board barometric altimeter for improved elevation data, all without sacrificing the size of its easy-to-read display.

“Having one solution that provides athletes with all the metrics they are after is what the Forerunner 910XT is all about,” said Dan Bartel, Garmin’s vice president of worldwide sales. “Seeing swimming metrics such as stroke count, stroke rate and stroke identification, and seeing running and cycling metrics such as pace, distance, heart rate and power, place the Forerunner 910XT in a class of its own.”

With Forerunner 910XT, swimming will never be the same again. Designed for both open water and pool swimming, Forerunner 910XT is water resistant to 50 meters and is Garmin’s first multisport watch to offer extensive swim metrics, including swim distance, stroke identification, stroke count and pool lengths. It also computes a user’s swolf score – the sum of the time for one length plus the number of strokes for that length. For example, 30 seconds plus 15 strokes equals a swolf score of 45. Swolf is a measurement of swimming efficiency and, like golf, lower is better. The 910XT’s robust design and easy operation make it suited for other water sports, including paddle boarding, kayaking and windsurfing to name a few.

When an athlete is ready to jump out of the water and onto the bike, Forerunner 910XT moves easily from wrist to handlebar with the optional quick release and bike mounts. Forerunner 910XT categorizes multisport activities in one workout and can also log transition time in the process, so triathletes can analyze their performance from start to finish. And with up to 20 hours of battery life, even hardcore endurance athletes can push themselves further than ever.

Forerunner 910XT uses a vibration motor for alerts such as heart rate, pace/speed and distance when audible tones cannot be heard (heart monitor included in some bundles or available separately). With the heart rate monitor, Forerunner 910XT also allows athletes to track their training intensity via the Training Effect feature. By inputting key information into the watch, a user can measure the impact of an exercise regimen on their aerobic fitness.

In a true race against the clock, Forerunner 910XT adds Virtual Racer™. With this feature, Garmin has an answer for every excuse- no more, “I could have beaten that time”- where users can race themselves over their previous bests or against other users’ times. These can be taken from activities stored on the watch or downloaded wirelessly from the huge and expanding Garmin Connect™ community (http://connect.garmin.com). Here users can quickly and easily log their workouts, track their totals, set goals, share workouts with friends and family and participate in an online fitness community of more than 70 million activities around the world. Also, users can now create and plan workouts, and even design courses and send it all directly to your 910XT with the click of a button. Garmin Connect displays metrics such as time, distance, pace, elevation and heart rate. This information is shown through charts, illustrations, reports and a variety of map representations including street, photo, topographic, and elevation maps.

During and after the workout, Forerunner 910XT blends the best wireless connectivity of all of its predecessors in the Garmin fitness family, syncing wirelessly through ANT+™ technology with Garmin heart rate monitors and foot pods, compatible third-party fitness equipment and power meters, and the user’s PC or Mac for automatic data download. The Forerunner 910XT will be compatible with Garmin’s innovative power meter Vector™ and display independent left/right power.

Forerunner 910XT is the latest breakthrough from Garmin, which has spent more than 20 years developing technologies and innovations to enhance users’ lives, making Garmin a household name in the automotive, aviation, marine, wireless, outdoor and fitness industries.
OLATHE, Kan./January 9, 2012/Business Wire — Garmin International Inc., a unit of Garmin Ltd. (NASDAQ: GRMN), the global leader in satellite navigation, will showcase its industry-leading factory-installed navigation and innovative infotainment solutions at the 2012 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. The week will be highlighted by an award presentation in which J.D. Power and Associates executives will recognize Garmin’s in-car navigation in the Dodge Charger as “Highest Customer Satisfaction With Factory Installed Navigation Systems”. The honored Garmin navigation system was first introduced as a factory-installed option on the 2011 Dodge Charger, Journey and Chrysler 300 models, and later expanded to additional Chrysler, Dodge, RAM and Jeep vehicles.

“Receiving the J.D. Power and Associates award for factory-installed navigation in our first year of eligibility for this category is an honor as Garmin strives for a seamless navigation experience, regardless of whether drivers choose a stand-alone device, a smartphone app or an in-dash system,” said Matthew Munn, Garmin’s Managing Director Automotive OEM. “As the global leader in navigation, Garmin makes customer satisfaction a priority for built-in navigation as well as fully integrated infotainment solutions that provide an intuitive automotive user experience that the world has come to expect from Garmin.”

Garmin received the top ranking in the J.D. Power and Associates 2011 U.S. Navigation Usage and Satisfaction StudySM, taking two of the top three spots. Now in its 13th year, the study identifies six factors that contribute to overall satisfaction with factory-installed navigation systems. In order of importance, they are: ease of use; routing; navigation display screen; speed of system; voice directions; and voice recognition.

“Furthermore,” the study continued, “the trend toward integrating the controls of different systems in the vehicle, including audio, climate control and phone, only adds to the ease-of-use issues that owners experience with their navigation system.” With that in mind, Garmin will use CES as an opportunity to unveil an exciting array of next-generation technology at Garmin’s automotive OEM showcase.

Among the innovations being demonstrated will be:

A new multi-sensor controller that provides an intuitive and safer way to use navigation and infotainment functions in the car while reducing the dangers of driver distraction

Fully integrated automotive OEM infotainment system solutions

Integration of cloud-based connected services and apps for automotive OEM applications
